Display several process values in a table

A value table combines up to sixteen independently assigned values. Each row has its own caption, device, address, unit and decimal places.

1. Insert the value table

In design mode choose Displays (Anzeigen) → Wertetabelle, place the object on the process page and double-click it to open its properties. The properties dialog calls it Prozesswerttabelle. Set Text / initial value to Prozesswerte. The example is 340 × 160 pixels. Process variables are assigned inside the individual rows.

Select Displays → Wertetabelle.
The new table contains temperature, pressure and level examples.
Text Prozesswerte, position 20/140, size 340 × 160 pixels and font size 16.

2. Understand a table row

Open Configure display. Each text line contains exactly five semicolon-separated fields: Name;PLC/device;Address;Unit;Decimal places. Name is the visible caption, device and address select the value, unit is optional and decimal places is an integer 0–6. Use one line per value, up to sixteen. Remove the three initial example lines for this exercise.

Each text line defines one process value. Add symbol row imports fields from the communication table.

3. Add three symbols

Click Add symbol row (Symbolzeile hinzufügen), select Tank_Fuellstand and Apply. Repeat for Anlage_Sollwert and Anlage_LCD. The result is:

Tank_Fuellstand;Modbus_Testserver;40001;%;0
Anlage_Sollwert;Modbus_Testserver;40007;;0
Anlage_LCD;Modbus_Testserver;40012;;0

The adjacent semicolons preserve an empty unit field. Apply both dialogs and save.

Tank_Fuellstand added with Modbus_Testserver, address 40001, unit % and zero decimal places.
The table contains Tank_Fuellstand, Anlage_Sollwert and Anlage_LCD.

4. Test the assigned values

In project settings select No communication driver – simulation only (Kein Kommunikationstreiber – nur Simulation). Save the symbol’s simulation value in the communication table and start test mode with F5. Since version 2.61.503, saved table values are loaded when Play starts in this mode. For each new test, leave test mode, edit and save the table value, then start Play again. No external Modbus server is needed. With a communication driver selected, the connected source supplies the value; editing a simulation value does not write to a PLC.

Tank_Fuellstand at 40001 uses 60 and displays 60 %. Anlage_Sollwert at 40007 uses 50 and displays 50. Anlage_LCD at 40012 uses 42 and displays 42. Each row updates independently.

Test mode displays 60 %, 50 and 42.

5. Change a row caption

Leave Play and reopen Configure display. Change only the first field in the first line from Tank_Fuellstand to Füllstand Tank. Apply both dialogs and restart. The display name changes, while device, address and 60 % remain unchanged. This does not rename the symbol in the communication table.

The first caption has changed; the assigned value remains 60 %.

6. Show one decimal place

Change the final field of the first line from 0 to 1: Füllstand Tank;Modbus_Testserver;40001;%;1. Apply and restart F5. The result is 60.0 %. The other rows retain no decimal places. Formatting is per row and does not change the underlying value.

With one decimal place the output is 60.0 %. The other rows retain their number formats.

Common questions

There is no shared process variable because every row has its own source. Preserve both separators in 40007;;0: they encode an empty unit. A dash means no value is available; check device, address and source, and restart after editing simulation values. Increase the object size if sixteen rows need more room.

Keyboard shortcuts

Apply or close property dialogs, select objects on the canvas and leave any active text field before using an object shortcut.

Delete — delete selection
Deletes selected simple objects without another confirmation. Check the selection first.
Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y — undo / redo
Undoes or restores an available object edit. This is not a recovery mechanism for deleted pages or files.
Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V — copy / paste
Copies the selection and inserts an offset copy. Check names and process assignments afterward.
Ctrl+X — cut
Copies objects to the internal object clipboard and removes them from the page. Paste with Ctrl+V.
Ctrl+A — select all
Selects unlocked objects on the current page.
Arrow keys — move precisely
Moves the selection one pixel in the chosen direction within the page bounds.
Shift+Arrow — next grid position
Moves the selection in the grid direction using the page grid spacing.
Ctrl+L / Ctrl+Shift+L — lock / unlock
Locks the selection; Ctrl+Shift+L unlocks all locked objects on the current page.
Esc — end editor action
Cancels an action such as placement or clears the current selection.
Ctrl+S — save project
Saves applied changes. Save again after deleting, moving or copying.

The fixed global alarm area cannot be deleted or copied. Structural objects with assigned contents can ask an additional question about those contents.
