Tabs – organize content across tab pages

Insert a tab container, name its tabs and switch between their assigned contents.

1. Insert a tab container

Select Structure → Tabs and place the object on the page. The container initially has two tabs, Übersicht (overview) and Details. The active tab is highlighted in teal. The original screenshots show the German interface.

Tabs display different groups of objects within the same area. Switching tabs does not require a PLC address.

Select Tabs in the Structure group.
Inserted tab container with Übersicht and Details.

2. Set position and size

The example uses the object name “Register”, X = 20, Y = 130, width = 400 and height = 225. Rotation is 0, transparency is 100 and font size is 16 px.

Name the individual tabs using Registerkarten einstellen (configure tabs). The text “Registerkarten” in Text / initial value is not the list of tab captions.

Object properties: position, size and tab settings.

3. Name and add tabs

Click Registerkarten einstellen. Enter one caption per line. To reproduce the example, use:

Übersicht
Details
Mein Tab
Dein Tab

Click Apply in the dialog and then in object properties. Save the project.

  • A container must have at least one and at most twelve tabs.
  • Blank lines are ignored.
  • Captions must be unique, including when compared without regard to letter case.
  • Simply renaming a tab preserves its assigned objects.
  • A tab with assigned objects cannot be removed. First reassign those objects or remove their assignments.
Four tabs, with one caption per line.

4. Assign objects to a tab

The tabs shown are still empty. To show a button only on “Mein Tab”, for example:

  1. Insert the button and open its object properties.
  2. Click Assign area (Bereich zuordnen).
  3. Select the intended tab container, then select Mein Tab.
  4. Apply the assignment and the object properties.

Simply placing an object inside the container does not replace this assignment. Assigned objects appear only when their tab is active and move with the container when it is moved. Select No assignment to unlink an object. This additional procedure is not illustrated in the supplied screenshot sequence.

5. Switch between tabs

Start test mode with F5. In the first screenshot, Übersicht is active. Click Mein Tab: the highlight moves to the third tab and its assigned contents are displayed.

The example remains empty because no contents have been assigned yet. Switching tabs changes the visible contents within the container; it does not navigate to another project page.

Test mode: Übersicht is active.

6. Troubleshoot missing contents

Open the affected object’s properties and check Assign area. Both the container and the specific tab must be correct. Then activate that tab. Short captions and sufficient container width help when using many tabs.
