Frame – visually organize page areas
Insert a group frame, add a caption and format its heading to match the process page.
1. Insert a frame
Select Structure → Frame and place the object on the page. A rectangular frame with rounded corners and the caption “Bereich” (area) appears. The original screenshots show the German interface.
The group frame visually organizes a page. For example, arrange displays and controls inside its outline. The frame does not require a PLC address.
2. Set the caption and size
Open the object properties. Name identifies the object, here “Rahmen”. Text / initial value contains the visible caption “Bereich”. Replace it with a suitable heading, such as “Pump control”, if needed.
The example uses X = 20, Y = 140, width = 320 and height = 170. Rotation is 0, transparency is 100 and font size is 16 px.
Use Assign area to assign the frame itself to a tab, collapsible area or scroll area. Simply placing other objects inside the outline does not create a fixed area assignment for those objects.
3. Format the heading
- Click Text formatieren (format text).
- Select the System font and a font size of 16 px.
- Set the text color to #55D6BE. Enable bold and leave italic disabled.
- Select left alignment. The preview shows the formatted caption.
- Click Apply in the formatting dialog and then in the object properties.
Formatting applies to the entire caption. The text color changes the heading, not the frame outline.
4. Check the result in test mode
Save the project and start test mode with F5. The selection outline disappears. The caption appears at the top of the frame, teal and bold in this example.
The frame is a decorative background. It does not intercept mouse clicks in test mode, so controls placed above it remain usable. It cannot be expanded or collapsed. Use a collapsible area for content that should be hidden and shown.
5. Layout tips
Choose a short, clear caption and allow enough space for the intended objects. Save your changes after formatting. See the keyboard shortcut reference for more controls.
LOCK / UNLOCK
Lock finished objects with Ctrl+L. Ctrl+Shift+L unlocks all objects on the current page. Learn about locking, the padlock badge and editing overlapping objects.
