Object catalogue – Find objects in the project
Browse project objects by page and type, search names or signals and jump directly to a matching object.
1. What does the catalogue show?
Tools → Object catalogue opens an overview of objects already in the project in design mode. It is not a library for inserting new objects.
The screenshot shows Hauptseite, Globale Alarme, Anlagenübersicht and Anlage Detail. The current main page is expanded, with categories for labels, buttons, process protocols, value outputs and value inputs.
2. Page → Object type → Individual object
- Use the triangle beside a page to expand its categories.
- Expand a category, such as Value inputs.
- Select an individual object entry.
Pages and categories organise the tree. Navigation requires an individual object. “22 objects in project” counts objects, not visible pages or groups; the number belongs to this example.
3. Search text, symbols or addresses
Search filters as you type, considering fields such as object name, text, type, connection, symbol and process address. Matching is case-insensitive.
For this project, search Anlage_Sollwert for matching names or assignments, or 40007 when that address is available directly or through the assigned symbol. With a filter active, the status reports matching objects.
Clear the search field to show all objects again. Filtering does not delete anything. The catalogue is not a complete reference audit of every possible nested signal assignment; no match does not prove a signal is unused throughout the project.
4. One click selects and closes
One mouse click on an individual object already navigates to it: the catalogue closes, the relevant page opens and the object is selected or highlighted. No double-click is needed.
Show object performs the same jump for the selected object, for example after keyboard selection. Selecting only a page or category produces a request to select an object first.
The editor centres the view on the target. For objects inside tabs, collapsible or scroll containers, the relevant container is revealed appropriately. Locked objects can be highlighted without unlocking them.
Open properties afterwards as usual. The catalogue finds and selects objects rather than automatically editing their settings.
5. Example: find the setpoint input
- Open the catalogue and enter Anlage_Sollwert.
- If there are several matches, check page and category. An input and an output may reference the same signal.
- Click the individual entry for the required value input.
- Check the highlight and object name on the destination page before editing properties.
Alternatively, clear search and expand the main page followed by Value inputs to follow the page/type/object hierarchy.
6. Close and common questions
Close exits without navigating. Status messages report missing targets or failed highlighting. Reopen and search again if project objects have changed.
The catalogue is intended for design mode. Finding an object does not write a process value or start machinery, and does not grant permission to edit it. See shortcuts, role permissions and the individual object guides.
