Notepad – create shift notes
Create shift handover notes with an author and recipient, then mark entries as read or open.
1. Insert a notepad
Select Structure → Notepad and place the object on the page. The editor shows a preview. Buttons for creating notes and changing their status appear in test mode. The original screenshots show the German interface.
2. Set the title and appearance
Open the object properties. Name identifies the object; Text / initial value sets the visible heading, here “Schichtnotizen” (shift notes). The example uses X = 20, Y = 130, width = 400 and height = 205.
Use Assign area to assign the notepad to a tab, collapsible area or scroll area. Notes do not require a PLC process variable. Confirm with Apply.
3. Create a new note
- Start test mode with F5. An empty notepad displays a message that no notes exist yet.
- Click New note (Neue Notiz).
- Enter an author and a message. Both are required. When a user is signed in, the author is filled with their display name and cannot be freely edited.
- Enter a recipient, such as a person or shift. An empty field is stored as “Alle” (everyone).
- Click Save note (Notiz speichern).
In the example, Rainer asks Josef Müller to check a cooling failure reported during the night. The recipient is a label within the notepad: it does not send an email or restrict the note to that person.
4. Read saved notes
The new entry shows its timestamp, status, author, recipient and message. Newest entries appear first. Offen: 1 means one entry in this notepad has not yet been marked as read.
5. Toggle between read and open
- Select the relevant note. Highlighting only indicates selection.
- Click Read / open (Gelesen / offen). The entry is marked as read and records the reading time; the current user name is also recorded when available.
- The open count decreases. The entry remains in the list.
Select that note again and click the button once more to reopen it. If no note is selected, the program asks you to select one first.
6. Saving and permissions
Notes and read status belong to their notepad in the project data. Changes mark the project as modified. Save the project to retain them when reopening it.
When user management is active, permissions to create notes and change their status are checked. Read status applies to the entry as a whole; it is not a separate acknowledgement for each recipient.
7. Keyboard shortcuts
F5 starts test mode. See the keyboard shortcut reference for more controls.
