Create and save a project

Name a project, wait for its files to be created and begin on the main page. Save previous work before starting. No PLC connection is required.

1. Name the project

Click the plus in the top toolbar or press Ctrl+N. The plus above the page list adds a page instead. In New PamaGlawe Project, enter a unique name such as Mein_erstes_Projekt and confirm with OK; Cancel leaves without creating it. Use a name not already taken and avoid characters invalid in Windows folder names, including slashes, colons, asterisks and question marks.

A meaningful project name makes it easier to find later. Click images to enlarge.

2. Wait for creation

Pamaglawe prepares the folder structure and saves the project. Wait for the save confirmation. The 82% shown in the screenshot is a progress snapshot, not an error.

The heading says “Projekt wird geladen” even when creating a project. The message underneath names the current step.

3. Close the save confirmation

Save successful (Speichern erfolgreich) confirms creation and shows the actual location. Click OK to continue. With an installation under C:\pamaglawe, the example folder is C:\pamaglawe\Projekte\Mein_erstes_Projekt and the file is Mein_erstes_Projekt.jvz. The screenshot uses a different installation path. A new project is already saved during creation; an additional Save As is unnecessary.

The confirmation appears over the progress indicator. Close the message with OK first.

4. Explore the empty main page

The project name appears in the title and status bar. The example page list contains Hauptseite and Globale Alarme [global]. Choose objects in the palette and place them on the grid. An empty canvas is expected in a new project. Continue with page setup.

The new example project: Hauptseite selected, an empty canvas and 0 objects.

5. Save later changes

Apply dialog entries, then save the project with Ctrl+S or the disk icon. Apply alone does not save the project file. Ctrl+Shift+S opens Save As for another name or location and asks before overwriting an existing file. Ctrl+O opens an existing .jvz project. Before overwriting, Pamaglawe creates a .jvz.bak backup. This does not replace a separate backup of the entire project folder and its associated files; Save As alone does not prove that those files were copied.

6. Automatic saving

Open Settings in the top toolbar, not page settings. Automatic saving uses 0 for off or an integer interval from 1 to 1440 minutes. New projects in the documented 2.61.489 build default to five minutes; check your actual setting. Autosave saves a modified project with an existing name and path. With user management enabled, a logged-in user needs save permission. Successful autosaves show no separate confirmation. Autosave does not apply unconfirmed dialog fields and is not an independent folder backup.

Apply and save deliberately before changing projects or exiting. If the application still asks to save on exit, respond to that prompt.

7. Common questions

If the name exists, choose another or open the existing project. If progress seems blocked, dismiss the save confirmation with OK. If a folder cannot be created, check the reported path and your write permissions; read the actual error rather than assuming success. The empty main page is your starting canvas.
