Add a setpoint input

Prepare an input showing 60 beside the tank, in design mode without writing to a PLC.

Help ID OBJ-INPUT4 original screenshotsExample version 2.61.489

1. Choose value input

Choose Basic objects → Value → Input (Eingabe). Place it to the right of the tank and double-click.

The same selection dialog as for numeric output: choose Input (Eingabe) here.

2. Set name and initial value

Name Sollwert_Tank_01; initial value 60; X/Y 280/260; dimensions 120/30; rotation 0; opacity 100. Adapt coordinates to your tank. Leave all process fields empty; gray example text is only a placeholder. Apply. The bar and separate display remain at their own 50% previews.

The process fields remain empty; the label is added next.
The initial value is visible, but its meaning is not clear without a caption.

3. Add the caption

Reopen properties, enter Sollwert (%) in the extra Label field and enable Visible beside it. Apply. This label describes the intended unit but does not configure scaling or enforce a 0–100 range. This input dialog does not contain the output object’s conversion and formatting dialogs.

The label appears above the input field. The selection frame belongs to design mode.

4. Check and save

Check that Sollwert (%) is readable above the input, the field shows 60 and the separate level output remains 50%. Save Ctrl+S after applying, including later edits.

5. Process assignment is a separate step

Name and proximity to the tank do not connect the objects or implement control. In Play mode, Enter submits a write request for a configured variable; it does not prove PLC acceptance. Before real use, check target, type, permitted range, write rights and feedback. This exercise establishes no process connection or validated input limit. The percent sign is part of the caption only.

Keyboard shortcuts

Apply or close property dialogs, select objects on the canvas and leave any active text field before using an object shortcut.
