Display a process state as text
Map preview value 2 to the red message Störung, then add English translations. This example has no PLC connection.
1. Select text output
Choose Basic objects → Text → Output (Ausgabe). Place beside the tank below the button and double-click. For an unchanging heading use a Label instead.
2. Prepare properties
Set name Status_Tank_01, X/Y 280/350, size 120/30. Text / initial value remains Text and is the fallback for an unmapped value. Leave extra Label and all process fields empty.
3. Map values to texts
Open Edit 16 text assignments. Entries compare exact values, not ranges. Use 0 → Aus, 1 → An, 2 → Störung. Other defaults read Wert 3 through Wert 15. Leave the translation column unchanged initially. Preview 2 should show Störung. Apply to store both mappings and preview.
4. Set conditional text colors
Open Conditional text colors and enable conditional color changes. Choose red for value 2; leave blinking off and apply. Text and color mappings are separate. Colors match only 0,1,2,4,8 exactly, not bit masks. Other values use color 0 even if they have their own text. Blinking is optional per color state, uses the dialog’s fixed 500 ms clock and is shown in Play mode.
5. Format the font
Use Format text: System, 20 px, left aligned, Bold enabled and normal color white. The screenshot precedes enabling Bold. The preview Text is for formatting, not state testing. Apply formatting and properties; conditional color takes precedence.
6. Check and save
The result is red bold Störung from preview 2; it proves no real fault. Save Ctrl+S. During preparation in build 2.61.489, a defect allowed normal text color to override the conditional color. The result screenshot followed a local correction on 4 September 2026; it does not establish a public release. If settings are correct but text stays white, report version and OBJ-TEXT rather than permanently setting the base color red.
7. Translate state messages
Reopen text assignments and select English in the right column: Aus → Off, An → On, Störung → Fault. This selector chooses the translation being edited, not the display language. Apply both dialogs and save. Open program/project Settings, change interface language from German to English and apply. Preview 2 now shows Fault in red. Other project text is not automatically translated. For missing-translation behavior, leave English for value 3 empty and preview 3: German base text Wert 3 appears, with color 0 because 3 has no color mapping.
An entirely unmapped value uses Text / initial value instead. Restore preview 2 and save; switch back to German for Störung.
8. Common questions
If Text appears, check the 2 mapping and applied preview. If white, check conditional colors and the version note. Value 3 uses color 0 by design. The on/off button does not change this text until both have suitable process assignments.
