Recipe – transfer setpoints to the simulator
Create a test recipe with one setpoint, validate its limits and verify the confirmed transfer to the Modbus test server.
1. Insert a recipe selector
Select Structure → Recipe and place the object on the page. The selector is empty until recipes have been created. It selects and transfers project-wide recipes. Original screenshots show the German interface.
The example uses X = 20, Y = 130, width = 300 and height = 110. Text / initial value contains the heading “Rezept auswählen und übertragen”. Open Rezepte verwalten (manage recipes).
2. Create the test recipe
The manager separates recipe definition, batch/protocol settings and recipe parameters. This introduction uses one setpoint without a CIP path or automatic logging.
- Click Neu (new) at the bottom left.
- Enter Testrezept 60 as the recipe name and “Beispiel zur Sollwertübertragung” as the description.
- Keep revision 1.0, batch prefix CH and CIP path (kein CIP-Weg) (none).
- Leave Für dieses Rezept ein Protokoll erzeugen (generate a protocol for this recipe) disabled.
- Click Rezept vollständig übernehmen (apply complete recipe) before adding a setpoint.
A recipe defines setpoints. A batch is a specific execution of a recipe revision. Configuring batch reports is outside this introductory example.
3. Add the setpoint
- Click Sollwert hinzufügen (add setpoint).
- Use Symbol below to select the existing Modbus_Testserver → Anlage_Sollwert → 40007 entry.
- Check the assigned connection details and complete the fields below.
| Field | Example value |
|---|---|
| PLC / device | Modbus_Testserver |
| Symbol | Anlage_Sollwert |
| IP address | 127.0.0.1 |
| PLC address | 40007 |
| Data type | UINT16 |
| Caption | Anlagen-Sollwert |
| Setpoint | 60 |
| Allowed minimum / maximum | 0 / 100 |
| Comment | Sollwert aus dem Testrezept |
The example connection uses port 502 and unit ID 1. Leave both tolerance fields and the unit empty; leave the mandatory-ingredient checkbox disabled. Click Sollwert übernehmen (apply setpoint), then Rezept vollständig übernehmen.
4. Complete both limit fields
The validation message in the screenshot appears because minimum is empty while maximum is 100.
Dismiss the message, enter minimum 0 and apply again. Either leave both limits empty or supply both valid limits; minimum must not exceed maximum. Our setpoint 60 is within 0 to 100. Negative and positive tolerance fields must likewise both be filled or both left empty.
5. Check the completed recipe
The list now shows Testrezept 60 · Rev. 1.0 · 1 Sollwert. The parameter row displays Anlage_Sollwert · 40007 = 60. The status confirms that the recipe, including the current setpoint, has been applied.
“Ist: nicht konfiguriert” means that no separate actual-value source has been configured. It is not required for the setpoint transfer shown here. Applying the recipe in this window confirms its configuration; it does not transfer it to a device.
Close the manager, apply the object properties and save the project.
6. Transfer to the local test server
- Enable the local Modbus project simulator and start test mode with F5.
- Check the online connection to 127.0.0.1:502, unit ID 1.
- Select Testrezept 60 in the recipe object.
- Click Rezept an SPS übertragen (transfer recipe to PLC).
- Check the recipe name and setpoint count in the confirmation dialog, then click Übertragen (transfer).
This writes the recipe value to the configured destination, the local simulator in this example. Before confirmation, register 40007 is shown as 0.
7. Verify the transfer and destination value
The Rezeptübertragung bestätigt message confirms the complete recipe transfer and communication acknowledgement of 1 of 1 setpoints. The test server simultaneously shows 40007 / Anlage_Sollwert at 60.
This verifies the setpoint transfer in the example. A communication acknowledgement does not establish that a real process has reached its setpoint.
If the value does not arrive, check online status, destination device, address, data type and the transfer feedback. More controls: keyboard shortcuts.
